Up and out for our morning game drive at Lake Nakuru which is famous for its birds--especially pelicans and flamingoes (just a SEA of pink in the water). They are everywhere! I also saw some baboons (not the food stealing kind), impala (a male will keep up to 20 women and all the kids--they have a black M on their butts), fish eagle, guinea fowl, water bucks (antelope), water buffalo, white rhino (the white eat grass and the black ones eat leaves so they are harder to spot since they stay near the forest), favets, Rothschild giraffes, and a lion and cubs.

We were supposed to meet our new driver after this (the other folks were doing a trip to Lake Naivasha, then to Amboseli, so we split up here)...but apparently he was running late, so we headed in that direction. Still hadn't hooked up with him by lunch, so we just stopped in a small town at a local restaurant. Couldn't figure out the menu...but finally just ordered an omelet (so tired of dry chicken and vegetables).

After leaving here, we found another driver who was heading in the direction our driver apparently was, so we rode with them for about an hour or so--a group of 20-somethings from Scotland, India, and Taiwan. They were so much fun after our 2 quiet people and 2 people who constantly argued. We had some sing/dance alongs as we rode back through the Great Rift Valley toward Nairobi. The presidential motorcade even passed us as we were travelling!

We finally met up with our new driver, Benjamin, who drove us the rest of the way to Amboseli Park. After a long, bumpy ride--they are paving the road and so you have to drive off road around it--we arrived at our next hotel--AA Lodge. It was BEAUTIFUL. It was already dark so we couldn't see Kilimanjaro yet. We grabbed dinner (finally some choice and delicious ones at that) and headed to our bungalow to sleep (?) in our rock-hard beds. Plus: more kitties!
