Finally got up after a LONG night of sleep. We went to our fave Geco Cafe for breakfast, then Karrie decided not to come out with me. I headed into the city for the Nairobi City Walking Tour.

My guides Nicholas and Brian were great. It wound up just being me on the tour, so I got a lot of info. They took me around the downtown area telling me some of the history of the area--which doesn't have a lot of history as they only recently became an independent city. I learned that "mzungu" means white person, and I may be hearing that a lot :-) The first president of the country was Kenyatta (name of airport), and also learned about Tom Mboya, the Mau Mau movement, and other interesting moments. Smoking is illegal on the streets, so they have special areas for them.

convention center--right is the flower that hasn't bloomed and the left has grown and bloomed. they represent how far Nairobi has come.

the zero marker...every location measured from here

They were so nice that they tried to help me find the sweater I'd been looking for. Mostly security people seemed to be wearing it--a cable knit sweater with patches on the shoulders and elbows. We walked all over...and at one point went to the City Market and some guy said he knew where they were...but didn't. Benjamin had given me the name of a store...but it didn't exist. We finally found them...but they didn't have my size, which is good...because as it turns out they looked awful on me :-)

Headed back to the Airbnb and ordered food and repacked everything for leaving tomorrow!
