Woke up before the alarm. Got ready, tidied up (Maria was out of town today, so I didn't get to see her before I left) and watched some tv. My Uber arrived in about 5 minutes...and I got to the airport just after 6am. Grabbed a mocha and ate the pan de chocolate I bought for breakfast last night, then went ahead and went through security and got to my gate...it is going to be a long day--I fly from here to Bogota, then from Bogota to Cartagena...from there back to Ft Lauderdale, then finally home.
I was only at the Bogota airport about an hour, then off to Cartagena where I'll be waiting for a few hours. When I arrived, I was sitting in the International waiting area--like domestic, there are only a few gates, so everyone is in the same room. It was early, and only one place had any food...so I had a ham and cheese panini and a DIET PEPSI (what is wrong with the world when there is no coke?). There is lots of legroom on Avianca flights (the airline I've been using within Colombia), and they are apparently the longest continuously running airline in the world (100 years). Found a spot to camp out...and used the last of my pesos for a water and some chips.
When I arrived in Ft Lauderdale, the flight had been delayed about 40 minutes...so I won't get back to Atlanta until after 1am! I finally arrive at Hartsfield and I've been up almost 24 hours. A friend picks me up and drives me home...and I collapse.
